Care Guide for handmade fashion accessories: scarves and homegoods

Spirit & Flow accessories are handmade fashion accessories from 100% organic and biodegradable materials and are meant to be appreciated, worn, and maintained for a long time.

Follow these care tips to save time and money, and keep your handmade crochet scarf scarves and homegoods in the best condition.

7 tips of care

STORING YOUR GARMENT

When dry, store your handmade fashion accessories in a moth-protected environment. A lavender sachet is okay, but mothballs aren’t recommended for care.

CLEAN

Do Not Dry Clean.

Hand wash your crochet accessory in cold water with mild soap and care.  To remove the excess water by rolling up loosely in a clean, dry towel and gently press down with hands.

To avoid bleeding soak in water with 1/4 cup of white vinegar for at least 30 minutes, as many times as necessary, until it stops bleeding.

DRY

Reshape your handmade fashion accessories and lay them flat to dry in a shaded place.

Bright light can fade colors.

Do not hang to dry.

REDUCE PILLING

To reduce pilling on handmade fashion accessories,  add 1 drop of glycerine to the water for handwashing and drying.

BASIC REPAIR: PULLED STITCH ON handmade fashion accessories

  1. Pull your piece both ways to stretch out your garment; longways and shortways - in order to try and stretch out the other stitches around the pulled stitch and lessen its individual impact.
  2. You can also follow the yarn to where its wrapped around the other stitches and insert a crochet hook or needle, using it to pull the pulled stitch back to where it should be.
  3.  If your stitch is still not in   place after that, you can block your garment.  Make a bath of lukewarm water and soak your garment for 30-45mins. Pat it dry and lay it out to reform. Once dry, should be all good!
